2019 is an interesting year in home decor. It is all about comfort. Isn’t that great news? Many home stagers & decorators agree that more home purchasers are starting to look for warmer colors, intimate spaces and casual lifestyles. The trend this year is pairing physical coziness with emotional comfort:
1. Smaller Home Furnishings Are Popular
Today’s consumers are searching for a ‘nesting’ environment. People are choosing much smaller furniture pieces now that a are arranged in closer, more intimate settings. Interestingly enough, this is happening through out all the generational age groups.
2. Traditional Wall Coverings
As with many design trends, what’s old is new again. In 2019, there has been a return to traditionalism, and with that there is a “return to wallpaper” trend. Also, you will begin to see shades of darker green fabrics and various wallpaper patterns as well.
3. Interesting Color Changes
Over the past decade, blues and indigos have been the popular colors. Now, it seems as if green is the “new blue” for 2019, and is most likely going to be seen in many patterns, and even in kitchen furnishings. If you don't already have some in your home, you may want to head out and get some green touches!
4. Creating Bold Color Pops
Even though the beige minimalism trend is still extremely popular, a trend of adding fun colors is arising. Can you believe that yellow is the hottest new color for accent pieces? Anything from knick knacks to sofa pillows to lamps. It's a good idea to stay neutral where you can if you're selling your home, but add a few color pops throughout your home with simple pieces.
5. Adding Warmer Traditional Wood
Once again, what’s old is new again, as antiques and second-hand pieces are starting to show up in 2019. Many consumers are buying wood chests, skirted tables, and other items with sentimental history.
